iPad stunts the growth of the netbook

The netbook could soon go the way of the dinosaur, thanks to the giant icy comet that is the iPad, according to new sales figures.
Separate research from Gartner and IDC reports that American netbook sales for the third quarter of 2010 were the weakest they've been in years.
However, sales of the iPad totalled around four million for the quarter, which potentially makes up for the netbook shortfall, whilst also being a possible explanation for the lower-than-expected growth of the PC market.
Gartner analysts explain that "media tablets don't replace primary PCs, but they affect PC purchases in many ways. At this stage, hype around media tablets has led consumers and the channels to take a 'wait and see' approach to buying a new device."
