Will HTC and Apple mobile phones change the internet?

Smartphones from the likes of Apple and HTC are changing the way people view the internet for good.
That is the view of Guardian Media Group's director of digital strategy Matt McAllister, who reckons mobile technology is sparking a radical change in the way the web operates.
"The cool kids have stopped building really amazing websites, but they think of building amazing mobile apps first - that is a big change," he explained.
Apparently smartphones are set to eclipse PC shipments in 2012, according Morgan Stanley.
Mr McAllister pointed out that a smartphone "is ultimately cheaper than a laptop and perhaps more functional because it is a phone".
