Britons may be famed for their ability to queue up, but research shows that eight-in-ten (83 per cent) now use their gadgets to save them from having to wait in line.
A study by the Payments Council found that the typical British adult can stand to queue for just under 11 minutes (10'42"), but the vast majority now use virtual alternatives, such as online shopping or direct debit bill payments.
Banking online was the most popular reason given for using gadgets (58 per cent), followed by paying bills (54 per cent) and buying travel and event tickets (39 per cent).
Sandra Quinn from the Payments Council believes that "it can definitely be worth thinking about making the most of these [queue-dodging tactics] if you haven't done so already".
If you're tempted to save some time any money by doing things online, check out the iPads, netbooks and smartphones that we have here at PurelyGadgets.
