Brits are not going to be shying away from the big purchases this Christmas, with SLR cameras no doubt on people's shopping lists.

According to lovemoney.com, the consumer advice site, spending over the festive season will be "resilient".

This comes after the BDO Retail Forecasts 2011 predicted Brits will spend more again this Christmas.

Its findings are also positive for next year, despite the rise in VAT, which is expected to hit retail sales.
