We've been seeing more and more hybrid digital cameras here at PurelyGadgets, but this one really is something a bit different.
The incredible Sony Alpha NEX-5 looks like a super slim compact, but unlike other hybrids it has the ability to fit full scale DSLR lenses to it.
It's a giant leap forward in camera technology and as Sony will be releasing a range of lenses to go with it, it may mark a turning point in the DSLR verses compact digital camera argument.
As well as the standard 18-55, f/3.5 equivalent lens, Sony intend to release wide angle 16mm f/2.8 and 18-200mm f/2.5 lenses as well, so there will be plenty of versatility for even the most demanding users.
Just to seal it's cross range appeal though, the NEX-5 also has a fully automatic mode known as iAuto that aims to give professional level results to anyone that wants to just point and shoot.
