The smartphone market is currently dominated by big players like the iPhone, HTC and Nokia, but Japanese manufacture Sharp is hoping that it will soon be able to take on the mobile phone big boys at their own game.
It won't be easy though and Sharp will have to pull out all the stops to stand any chance of avoiding a trouncing, but the company does have a serious ace up its sleeve - 3D.
Sharp claim that before the end of the year they'll launch a 3D smartphone that uses its 3D panel technology to provide images that don't need special glasses.
It's also claiming that it will include a 3D camera.
It'll take more than just 3D to compete though, but if they can match the leading edge visual technology with a phone that's up to speed in all other areas, then who knows, they might just have a winner on their hands.
If you want to stick to a tried and tested winner though, why not have a browse through the massive range of HTC and iPhone options here at PurelyGadgets or you could even go for the smallest phone in the world, the Modu.
