Nintendo 3DS launch draws nearer

Gadget fans are in for a 3D-OD in the coming months – with the Nintendo 3DS finally getting a release date.
Ever since "Avatar" hit the multiplexes, 3D has been the buzzword, and Nintendo is promising to give you the full experience not only at home, but on the go as well, with their new 3D handheld games console.
This week, Nintendo announced that the release date and price details...will be announced on September 29th.
Back in June, the Japanese games giant promised that the 3DS would be released globally before March 2011, and industry insiders reckon that sounds about right, given the six-month roll-out cycles for previous DS and DSi models.
But other rumourmongers have been saying that the Nintendo 3DS could be out in the UK as early as October this year. We'll all just have to wait and see what Nintendo themselves have to say about it at the end of September.
If you can't wait that long, well short of infiltrating Nintendo HQ and making off with a prototype, you're going to have to make do with one of the nonetheless-awesome Nintendo DS and DSi handheld games consoles.
