Mobile phones on the Tube?

It's the dream scenario for some and a nightmare for others – but mobile phone coverage could soon be coming to London Underground trains.
Transport for London is reported to be in talks with Chinese hardware firm Huawei about installing coverage in time for the 2012 Olympic Games. That's according to the Sunday Times, although London Underground has refused to confirm the names of specific companies it has been talking to.
If it goes ahead, the silence of the Tube – or the quiet clicking of Blackberry keyboards – will be broken by the chatter of thousands of late-running commuters declaring that they're on the train.
However, charges may keep the noise down. The company said: "Given the financial pressures on TfL's budgets, any solution would need to be funded through mobile operators with no cost to fare or taxpayers."
Deep underground trains are one of the few places left where today's Mobiles/cat/?catid=4" target="_self">mobile phones simply can't be used for making calls or connecting to the internet.
Here at Purely Gadgets, we've got a huge range of SIM-free mobile phones for you to choose from. Take a look at what we've got on offer here on the site.
