Kuwait bans digital SLR cameras

Kuwait is not the place for photography fans to take their SLR cameras to, unless you're an accredited journalist.
The tiny oil-rich nation thinks that SLR cameras are frightening for your average man or woman on the street, so has taken the steps to outlaw their use, the Kuwait Times reports.
"Taking a picture of a stranger would seem like much less of an issue if you were using a more discreet camera or even a cell phone," the newspaper says.
Any journalist wanting to use their SLR camera will have to obtain a licence from the Ministry of Information.
