HTC updates, at last

For all you HTC owners who've been chomping at the bit and suffered numerous false starts, you'll be able to breathe out finally as Google have finally released the official version of Android 2.2.
If you have an HTC Hero, then you'll know how annoying it's been to be left languishing for months with version 1.5 of Google's operating system, while others got updated to 1.6, 2.0 and 2.1.
Users of unlocked phones should be seeing updates imminently, whereas those of you on contracts to specific networks may still have to wait a little longer.
Don't worry though, as well as over-the-air updates, there are links available on HTC site such as Android 2.1 for the Hero, for you to download and manually update.
Users will now be able to download great free apps such as Google Maps Navigation, which will include many of the features of traditional GPS devices such as three-dimensional views and turn-by-turn voice guidance.
It also provides you with live traffic updates and satellite imagery from Google maps, pretty cool if you don't have a sat nav and even if you do, it's still really handy when you're out and about or in a colleague or friend's car.
