GPS specs to take on smartphones?

In the old days people used to get around cities with an A-Z, looking at sign posts, or God forbid, even asking for directions.
But luckily along came smartphones and handheld GPS devices and made sure that we never had to get lost again.
Well now a new Japanese prototype has emerged that could do away with the handhelds and signal a new era in personal navigation - direction specs.
Exactly what they sound like the pair of innocuous looking glasses have a built in GPS system and use subtle LEDs around the inside of the frame to signal whether you need to turn right or left.
While the technology sounds pretty nifty and could certainly stop you bumping into things while you're walking a long looking at a screen, it's going to be a while before the specs hit the shops, so in the meantime you may want to stick with today's cutting edge devices instead.
