As more and more businesses migrate to the cloud, as always consumer trends are quick to follow.
Now if you want to set up a virtual private network (VPN) at home, I'm not going to lie to you can be tricky. However, I've spotted a great little gadget that makes it a doddle and would be ideal for any home or even small home business.
It's the Dane-Elec myDitto Home Key and Server, and it makes setting up secure remote access really easy, seriously you don't need to be an IT genius to get this going.
You'll then be able to drag and drop files from any wired or wireless device within the home to the myDitto server, or the other way around, depending on what you're doing.
Unified communications is becoming big business as it makes all your devices part of one main server, making them really easy to manage. You can also use this server to stream multimedia content to a TV, media adaptor or even a digital photo frame.
With a virtual private network, you can then access your files and anything on your sever remotely wherever you are.
You'll do this with your username log in and passwords – if you know how useful having a private network is at work, think about the opportunities your own personal VPN could bring – pretty exciting.
