Anyone who hangs on every rumour about Apple and its iPad tablet PC will be in a state of rapture after "multiple sources" pegged March 2nd as the date for the launch of the iPad 2.
With every little thing about the next version of the world's leading tablet PC generating massive interest online, the news coming from the Wall Street Journal about the iPad 2's actual launch date is likely to cause some Apple fanatics to start queuing up today.
Since its launch last spring, Apple has sold almost 15 million iPads worldwide – not bad considering nobody knew what it was for when it was first unveiled – and has inspired a host of imitators, such as the Samsung Galaxy Tab GT-P1000 and the HP Touchpad.
And Apple can't expect to have things all their own way, with the Mobiles/cat/?catid=4" target="_self">HTC Flyer, Motorola Xoom and the Blackberry Playbook all set for launch in the first half of 2011.
So, will the Apple iPad 2 launch mark the commencement of hostilities in the year of the tablets? Rumours abound as to what the iPad 2 will bring to the party – a forward-facing camera, video chat support and multi-band connectivity being amongst the more credible – but all we can do now is wait and see.
