Microsoft Vista price cuts

11:44 am Gadget Guru

Microsoft are going to cut Vista prices to get more people to buy it from retail. This is because people to choosing to buy a new pc/laptop to get the new Vista instead of buying Vista straight off the shelf. I feel this move will have little effect on getting people to upgrade to a Vista by buying it off the shelf. I mean what’s the advantage of Vista now anyway? More secure OS? Better visuals? But will it work with my existing programs and applications? That is probably the single biggest issue people have right now. I guess Vista sales will only take off when majority of the Windows users and corporate have upgraded to Vista and upgrading becomes a neccessity. Else why change something(XP) that is not broken?

Windows Vista Capable
On a separate note, you how Microsoft have put these Vista Capable and Vista Premium Ready labels on PCs. One look at the minimum specifications detailed for being Vista Capable and anyone who has used Vista before will tell you it’s load of crap. Try using Vista on those specs you’ll probably be better off sticking to your XP. So why did they put this Vista Capable tags anyway? Well it might have been a conspiracy between Intel and Microsoft to allow Intel to continue selling existing motherboards with their 915 graphics chipset (which was supposedly rejected as being Vista incompatible). At least that is what’s being claimed in the lawsuit.

Would be interesting to see what develops of this lawsuit.
