3D Sat Navs

3:59 pm Gadget Guru

After you have driven with a Sat Nav in your car, it’s hard to imagine life without one. Now with the wonders of modern technology, Thinkware from Korea have just announced the launch of what I feel must be one of the coolest GPS I have set my eyes upon.

The iNAVI K2!

The 3D graphics are something you would probably expect from a game rather than a GPS. With a 4.8″ 800×480 screen, 8GB of memory from an SDHC card, 256MB of RAM and a Geomagnetic sensor which makes the mapping more accurate, you’ll probably want to get one just to see what your house looks like!

But sadly this little baby is only available in Korea right now. Fingers crossed Thinkware or someone brings the same technology our shores in the near future.

Sanyo have their “HD Gorilla” NV-HD550 but just doesn’t look as pretty though. The closest one I can think of are the Becker Traffic Assists with their Reality View and Lane Info features. Come one guys, the benchmark has been set. Any challengers?

This seems a great idea. Keeping the data up to date will be cruical, though. What happens when FamilyMart is bought out by KwikEMart? That’s a lot of textures to download.

Still, it’s another step on the road to 3D contact lens overlay head-up-display world of the future… (Read Rainbows End by Vernor Vinge.)

By the way, this is a pretty authentic looking blog for an eCommerce site. Nice use of a blog to give your company a human face. These guys have some good thinking about how to do a corporate blog.
