According to Sony, the Alpha 230 will be “world’s lightest DSLR featuring an APS-C sized image sensor and in-body image stabilisation”, both cameras have six scene modes plus on-screen Help Guides aimed to assist those new to DSLR cameras. The Quick AF Live View feature on the α380 encourages freestyle shooting, which is backed up by continuous shooting speeds of up to 2.5 fps and a newly enhanced D-Range Optimiser that automatically adjusts exposure values when faced with a composite of deep contrasting shadows and bright images.

Whether these cameras are just an update of the old Alphas with a reworked menu, HDMI and hefty price tag in tow remains to be seen, these dSLRs are due to be released in July 2009.

It’s nearing the end of May, students are off having exams/revision or if you’re none of the latter and stuck at work day dreaming about a holiday because the cursed sun is illuminating the whole room.
